PRINCIPAL'S CORNER

Welcome to Strasburg High School. My name is Jeff Rasp, and I am the principal of Strasburg High School. This will be my 23rd year in the Strasburg School District. I was the district counselor for two years before becoming the elementary principal for four years. I have been the principal of the high school since August of 2003.

I am originally from Buffalo, New York, which explains why I root for the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. My family moved to a suburb of Dallas, Texas when I was in high school (talk about culture shock). I received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas in Austin (Hook 'em horns!). After teaching in Texas for 6 years, I moved to California. I taught in the San Francisco area for 9 years before moving here in 1997. I'm proud of where I am from, but I truly enjoy living here in Colorado.

I have a wonderful wife, Sherri (I way overachieved), and we have two great kids- Josh, who is 20 years old, and Jacob, who is 18.  Josh graduated from Eaglecrest High School and is a junior at Metro State University this year. Jacob also recently graduated from Eaglecrest and he will be attending the University of Colorado at Denver. They visit Strasburg frequently and are always made to feel welcome by our students and community.  You will hear me talk about them at almost every opportunity I can get- I am very proud of them.

Strasburg is an excellent school district. Our educators have tremendous expertise and are very passionate about their profession. Our motto at the high school is to prepare students for success in life by setting high expectations and doing everything we can to help students meet them. We stress respect for one another at our school and we have a highly supportive atmosphere where students feel valued and challenged.  Our students are extremely talented and cooperative. Most of them go on to post-secondary education and contribute to society in a very positive way.

Please feel free to contact me if you have a question or concern. Strasburg is a very supportive community and it is so important to establish positive relationships with our families. The high school phone # is 303-622-9212 and my extension is 802. You may also e-mail me at jrasp@strasburg31j.com. I am happy to meet with you- it is best to call ahead to make an appointment if you would like to set up a meeting.  I hope your student has a great school year!

Sincerely,

Jeff Rasp, Principal
