¡Hola!
I am Rebecca Werthmann, Spanish teacher at both Hemphill Middle School and Strasburg High School. This year, I teach Bilingual Language Arts, Spanish 1, and Spanish 2. I developed a passion for the Spanish language and culture when I was introduced to it as an 8th grade student, and my love has continued to grow ever since. After high school, I continued my education at Emporia State University in Emporia, KS where I graduated in 2014 with my Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Spanish, and I completed my Masters through Kansas State University a few years later. My ultimate goal in my classroom is to foster a love and appreciation for other languages and cultures and show all students that anyone can learn another language when they try! Over the years, I have traveled to Spain, Costa Rica, and Mexico to broaden my own horizons and be a more effective educator. Traveling is one of my passions and I think everyone should take the opportunity to explore the world at some point in their life!
In my free time, I like to spend time with my husband, stepdaughter, and two crazy dogs. I enjoy crafting, cooking, and finding new shows and movies. I am very proud to be a member of the Strasburg family! Go Indians!
