Mrs. Jenny Authier is in her sixteenth year as the music teacher and choir director at Strasburg Elementary. She holds a Master of Music degree from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Music Therapy from Utah State University. Jenny holds a Kodály Music Teaching Certificate. She believes that music is for everyone and students learn best by singing, moving, and playing. Her classroom is a space for experiencing the joy of music and creating music in a social environment. Jenny’s Strasburg Singers choir is in its fifteenth year and most recently put on the musical Alice in Wonderland Jr. The musicals come together with countless hours and volunteers. Jenny enjoys bringing people together to create something incredible.
Jenny has presented several times at the Colorado Music Teacher’s Association (CMEA) conference and will present at the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE) National Conference. Jenny is past president of the Regional Organization of Colorado Kodály Educators (ROCKE). She is the founder of the Strasburg Arts Council (SAC), a community non-profit geared at enhancing the arts at the school and in the community.
Jenny plays the piano, viola, guitar and organ and used to play in a professional string quartet. Before teaching, she practiced music therapy with Metro Music Therapy, Inc. She spending time with her family, trying out new recipes, and listening to all types of music, especially the Beatles. She has two daughters, one son, and one granddaughter.
