"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." Ignacio Estrada

Well hello there, thank you for taking the time to get to know me :)

I am a proud Colorado native going back at least 5 generations. My family is from all over Colorado but I was raised in Byers, Colorado with my two siblings. I graduated from Byers High School in 2007. While I attended Byers, I fell in love with being in the classrooms as a teacher's aide. After graduating high school I attended both Morgan Community College and Grand Canyon University in order to obtain my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In 2017, I began working at Strasburg Elementary and now that I am in the classroom I have no doubt that this is where I belong.

When I am not at the school you can find me spending time with my amazing family. I have a fantastic husband that I married in 2015 as well as three wonderful children. My oldest is Megan born in 2008, then I have Zach who was also born in 2008 (no they are not twins :) and Brooke who was born much later in 2016. My hobbies consist of trying to keep up with the kids. Megan and Zach are very active in sports such as baseball/softball, basketball, and running on walls. My daughter and I also compete in equestrian sports with the local CCHA club located in Byers. My family also loves going fishing, boating and camping any chance we get.

It is my mission to instill a love of learning in each and every student I have the opportunity to work with. I will do my best to teach each subject with passion so I can help students to develop the desire to become lifelong learners. I also hope to teach students that it is okay to make mistakes. “Don’t be afraid to fail. Don’t waste energy trying to cover up failure. Learn from your failures and go on to the next challenge. It’s OK to fail. If you’re not failing, you’re not growing.” H. Stanley Judd. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns. It is essential to keep communication open between the classroom and home so our students can be as successful as possible. Have a great year and I cannot wait to share the many successes each student achieves.
