Colorado ACCESS for English Language Learners (ELL) 2024-25
Testing Window: January 13 - February 14, 2025
Mandated by: This test is mandated by the State of Colorado per Federal Statute. It is for all English Language Learners who have NOT demonstrated that they are Fully English Proficient. No opt out is available.
Tests & Time Required: There are 4 domains that are tested. Times vary due to grade level and proficiency of the student.
Listening — 20-50 minutes
Reading — 45-50 minutes
Writing — 25-75 minutes
Speaking — 15-35 minutes
Purpose: Results provide parents with a shared state-wide indicator of individual student mastery of end-of-year standards, including areas of relative strength and weakness. Individual results can be compared against the school, district, and state.
Results provide schools and districts with a piece of data that may be used as prompt for further investigation at the student, classroom, school, and district level. They support schools and districts in reviewing and developing goals for the performance of their students, and they may indicate that a review of programs, curricula, materials and/or scope and sequence may be appropriate.

National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (Juniors ONLY, Opt-in Test) —October 21, 2025
CMAS — April 7 – April 25, 2025
PSAT 9 & 10 — District will pick a date within the testing window of April 14 – April 25, 2025
SAT — District will pick a date within the testing window of April 14 – April 25, 2025

Math—70 minutes
CMAS
Math — Grades 3-8 — 3 hours 15 minutes
English Language Arts — Grade 3-8 — between 4 hours 30 minutes and 5 hours 30 minutes
Science—Grade 3, Grade 8, Grade 11 — 4 hours
PSAT 9 & PSAT 10
Grade 9 — 2 hours 35 minutes
Grade 10 — 2 hours 55 minutes
SAT
Grade 11 — 3 hours 15 minutes

SAT scores may also be used to satisfy a district’s graduation requirements.
