Instructional Curriculum Committee

Approved SSD Indians Logo

Excellent curriculum is central to the vision and mission of Strasburg School District. The curriculum development process was implemented as a need for the Strasburg school district to support alignment with standards and benchmarks, curricula and assessments adopted and adapted with input on best practices from curriculum development professionals, administrators, and teachers.

Primary Purpose

The Instructional Curriculum Committee’s primary purpose is to continuously improve the educational program, in line with Strasburg’s overall mission and vision, via research, curriculum development, and review of recommendations for changes in curriculum and/or primary learning materials brought to the committee by department chairs, team leaders, and district instructional staff.

In-depth discussions on the research and recommendations take place in these committee meetings.  After approval by the Instructional Curriculum Committee, potential curricular changes are communicated to the Strasburg community, District Accountability Committee and the Board of Education for the opportunity to provide feedback and for consideration and approval to purchase as part of our budgetary request.

Curriculum Committee Structure and Meetings

K-12 Instructional Curriculum Committee meetings occur as needed, typically between two and four times each calendar school year.

Curriculum Committee members will include; administrators, teachers, parent representatives, a representative from the Data Accountability Committee (DAC).  Principals will serve as co-chairs of the Curriculum Committee.

The Instructional Curriculum Committee will submit names of recommended parent representatives to the Board for approval.  Parent representatives must be approved by the Board of Directors and sign a school confidentiality agreement.
