Art Room Expectations

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

            Perseverance – Be prepared and don’t give up.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

            Punctual Be in the room when the bell rings or you will be counted tardy!

            Respect Listen respectfully and stay seated while others are talking.

            Responsible You are responsible for the clean-up of your area

                                 Art supplies are tools, please use then responsibly.

            Be Prepared Always have a pencil, eraser and sketchbook

            Appropriate No obscene, violent or offensive imagery.

            Food and Drinks Keep your snacks away from your work and others. Bring a clear water

            bottle.

 

CONSEQUENCES

            1ST Time            Reminder of Rule

            2nd Time           1 minute after class

            3rd Time            15 minutes after school detention

            4th Time            Referral to office/phone call home

            Severe Clause: Send to principal – Unsafe or threatening behavior, destruction of school

or personal property, defiant/disrespectful behavior, etc.

 

REWARDS

            Individual students can earn PRIDE cards for positive behavior, extra help with clean-up

and hard work.

 

GRADES

            Each assignment will be worth a certain number of points. The students will receive an

outline for each assignment stating what is being graded and how many points the

assignment is worth.

90-100 = A

80-89 = B

70-79 = C

65-69 = D

64 & below = F

 

BELL WORK

Students will receive 10 points per day, up to 50 points per week for completing bell work.

Bell work will be used to enhance the learning experience in the art room. Bell work must

be made up when tardy or absent. There will be a copy of the bell work assignments on

Schoology as well as in the classroom for students to access if they need them.

PARTICIPATION GRADE

Students will receive 25 points per week for participation. Students can lose up to 5 points

per day for lack of participation. Students can lose additional points for the week for

inappropriate behavior.

 

LATE WORK POLICY

Late work will follow the student handbook guidelines. Assignments will be reduced 10%

for being late one day and 20% off for being two or more days late. Late work will only

be accepted until the end of the unit.

 

RETURNING AFTER AN ABSENCE

Verified and Excused Absences

Make –up work will be given full credit if completed and turned in by the next day.

Unexcused Absences

Make-up work will be due the day after coming back and will be reduced 50% of the

total score.

 

TARDY POLICY

1st tardy – Reminder of tardy policy, name recorded.

2nd tardy – Reminder of tardy policy, stay 1 minute after class

3rd tardy – 15 minutes detention after school, name recorded

4th tardy – Referral; 1 hour after school detention

 

HALL PASS POLICY

Students may use a hall pass to go to the restroom or their lockers during class. If the

student abuses this policy by going multiple times in 1 day or routinely throughout the

week, they will be limited to 2 times a week.

Spiral bound unlined sketchbook – DUE by the 4th day of class

Erasers
